About The Barns
Cooling Castle Barn is actually three different barns - each with their own individual character, charm and purpose.
All the barns open out onto a large patio area which is furnished with tables and chairs for use on warm summer days and evenings. The four acre grounds are available for use, to take photographs or to simply relax and enjoy.
Ample car parking is provided, out of sight of the main grounds, but within the confines of the grounds.
The Tithe or Great Barn
The imposing original king and queen post structure of this traditional 16th/17th century tithe barn reaches to an impressive height of nine metres .
The exposed beams, rafters and red kent bricks are enhanced by atmospheric lighting designed to highlight the features and fabric of the building.
As the largest of our three barns it is ideal for many types of event typically weddings, parties and corporate functions.
We can seat up to 160 for a served meal and 250 guests for more informal or evening events. Please have a look at the virtual tour and our pictures to see the full scope of its beauty.
The Fathom Barn
The Fathom Barn has the exposed beam, red brick and atmospheric lighting of the adjoining Tithe Barn. It is however slightly smaller and more intimate with a minstrels gallery, raised dais and seating for 120 guests. In the grandeur of this barn, civil wedding ceremonies, conferences, seminars and training days take place.
The Heritage Barn
This is our newest and most contemporary barn. It overlooks the garden and has a light and airy Mediterranean flavour. It is generally the meeting point for guests prior to a wedding ceremony or on arrival from a church wedding. For a small conference party it is ideal for creating that perfect atmosphere.
This barn is extremely versatile, it is the ideal setting for the delicious breakfast that is served to all guests who have an overnight stay at The Stables.
